Thousands of people used to visit Kolkata from sub-urban areas of Kolkata & Howrah every year during Durga Puja and to help those people, who are planning to visit Kolkata during Durga Puja, South Eastern Railways has come up with Durga Puja 2012 Special Local Trains from various stations to Howrah station. These Durga Puja Special Local Trains will help people to come Kolkata easily & safely and to see Durga Pandals of Kolkata without having the tension of losing out last train.
South Eastern Railways will run Durga Puja 2012 Special Local Trains from Howrah Station towards Kharagpur, Panskura, Amta, Mecheda, Burdwan etc. at late night so that people can return home and also will run Local trains towards Howrah station from various stations so that people can easily come to Kolkata & can see Durga Puja pandals whole-night. All these 2012 Durga Puja Special Local Trains will be available from 20th October to 25th October 2012.

A special Howrah – Kharagpur EMU Local Train has been introduced for the people who are going to visit Kolkata during Durga Puja and required Local Trains towards Kharagpur at the midnight. A special Tarakeswar – Sheoraphuli EMU Local Train (Down train) has been introduced for the people who are going to visit Sreerampore, Sheoraphuli station from Tarakeswar during Durga Puja and required DOWN Local Trains towards Sheoraphuli at the midnight. Thus a Local Train from Tarakeswar to Sheoraphuli station will leave Tarakeswar station at 11:00pm [night] and will reach Sheoraphuli station at 11:55am (midnight). This extra DOWN Local Train from Tarakeswar to Sheoraphuli station at night is only available between 21st October 2012 & 24th October 2012 [Durga Puja].
Note: - These Durga Puja 2012 Special Local Trains will halt at every station on their route. So, that people can safely return home & coming to Kolkata during Durga Puja 2012. All the Local Galloping Trains of Howrah - Bardhaman and Howrah - Bandel route will stop at every stations during the puja days.
South Eastern Railways also announced that No EMU Local Trains will be cancelled on coming Sunday [21st October 2012 – Durga Saptami]. It means, those trains aren't available on Sundays, will also be available on Saptami [Sunday] for the people.
